To make these simple almond flour chips, you need 4 simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry.

  • Almond flour sometimes called almond meal or ground almond all are similar. I used blanched almond flour, but unblanched almond flour would work well. Only the color of the low-carb tortilla chips would differ. Learn how to choose the best flours for your keto diet.
  • Chia seeds I used black chia seeds. Use the one you have. Any color would work here.
  • Spices of your choice play with the spices and create various low-carb tortilla chip flavors! I love to combine ground cumin, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast this gives a cheesy flavor while adding lots of vitamins B1 and B2. Other great ideas are smoked paprika, paprika, dried rosemary, curry powder, or even turmeric!
  • Olive oil I also tried the recipe with different healthy oils like avocado oil, almond oil, and hazelnut oil. It is a great way to give a different flavor to the chips.

Use As A Substitute For Crackers

You can use keto cheese chips as cracker substitutes as well. You can top them with cheese, enjoy with keto hummus or other spread, or crumble up and sprinkle atop a bowl of soup. Here are a few more recipe ideas to spark your culinary creativity:

  • Cheese plates: Create a cheese plate with charcuterie, olives, and various keto-approved spreads. Pair your low-carb cheese chips with a slice of salami and enjoy.

Considering how simple this chocolate chip recipe is to prepare, I thought it would be a good idea to focus on the why behind each of the ingredients included. Since there are only three of them, it should be fairly obvious that they all serve a key purpose.

Cocoa Butter This ingredient is used to give your chocolate chips their hold and texture, as cocoa butter is responsible for adding that decadent silky feel that chocolate chips are known for. When I make low carb chips I like to use whole milk mozzarella cheese and feel they come out the best that way. You may wonder if you can use low fat or low moisture as a substitute. While technically you can, in my experience the other varieties may make your mixture too wet and there isnt enough fat to make the dough workable. Plus if its too wet homemade tortilla chips may not crisp up enough.

For another variation, you can try shredded cheddar cheese instead of the mozzarella which makes them equally as yummy.

When you’re in the mood for a sweet and crunchy snack, these cinnamon keto pork rinds have your back. They only have five ingredients and are super easy to make. Plus, you can break these cinnamon keto pork rinds into small bits and eat them with milk instead to make your own homemade cereal! Lots of ketoers wish there were more cereal substitutions, so this is perfect for that craving.


  • Transfer pork rinds into a large Tupperware with a lid or a zip lock bag.
  • Pour the melted butter over pork rinds, close the lid, and shake to coat.

    How To Make Low Carb Baked Tortilla Chips In 7 Minutes

    Ahhhh its so easy, its a little crazy!

    Preheat your oven to 350° and spray a baking sheet with olive oil or avocado oil. On a cutting board place 3 low carb tortillas and drizzle about 1/2 tsp olive oil over each one.

    Brush the olive oil all around to cover the whole tortilla and then cut each tortilla into 8 equal wedges.

    Spread the wedges evenly over the baking sheet and then sprinkle with sea salt.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Pull them out and check for doneness. They should be nice and firm with some possible browning around the edges.

    Remove the chips that are fully baked and place the remaining back in the oven for an additional minute. They should be fully baked by now, depending on the thickness of your tortillas. Enjoy with your favourite dip, such as Guacamole, or just by themselves!

    What I love about these keto tortilla chips is how close they are to the “regular” kind!

    For these chips we are using our Keto Tortilla recipe. The ingredients for that recipe are below.

    Almond Flour– This is the main flour that we’ll use for our tortillas. Choose a finely milled almond flour for this recipe.

    Coconut Flour – A small amount of coconut flour gives the perfect texture to the tortillas.

    Xanthan Gum – This is a thickening and emulsifying agent, and necessary when baking without traditional gluten flour.

    Baking Powder– This allows the dough to puff up a bit when cooked.

    Kosher Salt – Added for flavor.

    Garlic Powder – Optional, but I like the added savory flavor that it gives.

    Egg – An egg binds all of the ingredients together and aids in browning.

    Water – Use water to get the right dough consistency.

    For the chips, you’ll also need

    Cooking Oil Spray – For spraying your pan and the chips.

    Salt – To Season your chips.

    Variations Of Keto Tortilla Chips:

    In this recipe, you could substitute your Almond Flour with Coconut Flour or you could combine the 2 kinds of flour, half and half. Either combination works fine.

    Spices are great for so many foods, they add so much variety of flavors so put whatever spices that you like in them too. Try different ones one at a time like a bagel or a lot of spices together like an everything bagel. That way you can make them the way you like them.

    Xanthan Gum In Keto Cooking

    So if you’ve been following my recipes for a while, you’ve probably noticed I use xanthan gum pretty often.

    Xanthan gum is basically keto-friendly gluten. It binds all the ingredients together and gives you a wonderfully chewytexture.

    For this keto tortilla chip recipe though, it’s mostly goingto help give our dough an elastic quality so we can roll it out thin enough to make tortilla chips.

    However, If you don’t have xanthan gum on hand – or can’t find it – guar gum can be used in its place. And the beautiful thing about using guar gum is that it’s a 1:1 substitute for xanthan gum.

    How To Roll The Dough

    Now to get ready to roll out the dough for the keto chips.

    Spray two large baking sheet-sized pieces of parchment paper with coconut or avocado oil. Alternatively, if you dont have a spray, brush the oil on with a basting brush. The oil serves to prevent the dough from sticking to the paper but also to help the chips crisp up when baking.

    Place the slightly chilled dough in between the two pieces of parchment paper . Next, take out a rolling pin and roll the dough out as thinly as possible between the two pieces of parchment paper.

    After that, carefully remove the paper from the top side of the dough and cut in triangles or desired shapes. Its easy to use a pizza cutter or a knife to do this.

    Ideally, they will all be about the same size so they cook evenly. Mine are not often exactly the same, but thats okay!

    Then, peel the dough triangles carefully off or the parchment paper one at a time. Set them on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silicone liners. They dont have to be far apart, but they will puff up a bit.

    I have 3 simple tips to make crispy almond flour tortilla chips:

  • The thinner, the better follow my technique below I roll my dough between two pieces of parchment paper this is A MUST. Pressing the rolling pin really well to make the dough super thin. Using parchment paper is not optional. It prevents the dough from sticking to the roller. It makes the dough super thin. And it makes the transfer of the chips onto the baking tray super easy all you need to do is to lift the piece of parchment paper and move it. No need to move the rolled dough!
  • Baking at hot temperature and checking every minute usually, thin tortilla chips are all cooked all the way after only 6 minutes, but depending on how thin they are, they may require an extra minute. I recommend checking the color of the tortilla chips every minute after 6 minutes of baking. Most of the time, they are cooked, but sometimes I roll my chips a bit thicker, and it takes up to 8 minutes. The color is your indicator. If it is golden brown, then it is ready!
  • Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet this makes them extra crispy! Dont skip this step or your gluten-free tortilla chip recipe will be too soft!
